The Community launches competition to investigate and exploit mineral resources in the town of Abanilla (20/10/2012)

The Ministry of Universities, Business and Research, through the Directorate General of Industry, Energy and Mines, published in the Gazette a contest to award mining rights in the town of Abanilla.

It's ten mining rights have expired and comprising a total of 2,002 mining grids and cover an area of ​​approximately 60,000 hectares in which there are significant mineral resources, mainly ornamental rock and aggregate materials for manufacturing.

According to the Director General of Industry, Energy and Mines, Pedro Jiménez, "among the criteria for the award of these mining rights have been set as priorities the volume of investments and generate employment, the lowest run time, and the implementation of operating systems that involve a lower environmental condition ".

Companies interested in investigating and / or exploit these mineral resources have until December 10, 2012 to submit their bids.

Among the reasons that expiration occurs exploration permits and research, are interested voluntary renunciation, non-payment of taxes or fail to start mining work or studies performed, examinations or examinations on time, form and intensity approved by the Directorate General of Mines, among others.

Also, General Rules for Mining Regime approved by RD 2857/1978, Article 109, provides that, in addition to the above reasons, the rights expire resource exploitation when breaches the obligation to begin work in within one year from the granting of the concession, for repeated breach of the obligation to file within the statutory deadline, the annual work plan, or depletion of the resource.

The Director General of Industry, Energy and Mines said that the town of Abanilla is one of the most concentrated mining activities in the region.
