The works that will lead, throughout this year, to the sealing of the Abanilla landfill have begun with the emptying operations of 7,000 m3 of the leachate pool.
The order of urgent actions signed by the Minister of Water, Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Environment, Antonio Luengo, in the last days of February, for an amount of almost 400,000 euros, is thus fulfilled.
The general director of the Environment, Francisco Marín, who supervised the works together with the mayor of the municipality, José Antonio Blasco, explained that when these actions are completed, they will proceed to execute the final sealing of Vessel 0, with a budget that round one million euros, which will conclude the closure operations of the landfill.
