Garre President inaugurates a new tank storms in Abanilla to protect the river from pollution Chícamo (09/02/2015)

The new storm tank collects the first rainwater, which are the most toxic, and prevents episodes of flooding of the road in various sections

The President of the Autonomous Community, Alberto Garre, opened today, with the mayor of Abanilla, Fernando Molina, the new tank storms and pretreatment Wastewater Treatment Plant Abanilla, an infrastructure that will protect river pollution Chícamo "a very sensitive watercourse, of high ecological and environmental value, recognized as a Site of Community Importance (SCI)".

Specifically, this infrastructure allows to collect and store in a tank with capacity for 1,400 cubic meters, the first rainwater, considered the most toxic and polluting because it is water that cleans the streets and collect all the waste finds its step.

Water collected, the president said, "will be purified and treated to reach the Chícamo river water as clear and beneficial for your channel, and reused at the same time, local irrigators for agriculture."

Also, the new tank will prevent excess storm water punctual contributions, especially in periods of heavy rain, preventing episodes of flooding of the road in various sections.

The investment in the storm tank amounted to 2.1 million euros, cofinanced by 80 percent by the Cohesion Fund of the European Union, and 20 percent for the region.

Garre President stressed that "these works, Abanilla completes its cycle sanitation and water treatment, which involved a total investment of over ten million euros in four major infrastructure: Abanilla Treatment Station, Barinas Treatment Station The general south collector and storm tank.

These works are included in the General Plan of cleansing and purifying of the Region of Murcia, to which the Community has allocated more than 600 million euros for the construction of treatment plants and collectors throughout the Murcia geography.

Murcia gets 109 hectometres of water with sewage treatment systems that apply, and make wastewater flow rates suitable in quality and safety for use in irrigation.

The president stressed that once completed the bulk of this General Plan, "entered a new phase with the construction of new infrastructure such as storm tanks" and announced the launch of at least four other tanks in the coming months .
